The Mesa Grande Western Railroad was severely impacted by the Bobcat Fire on September 18 - 19, 2020. All of the buildings save one survived, and all of the rolling stock was taken off site. All four bridges / trestles burned and will have to be rebuilt. The track is 90% OK, it was mostly buried in dirt ballast which saved it. 3/4s of the desert flora was burned completely and will take some time to grow back.
